Legitimately, a trade mark is a protected sign that differs the products or services of a company from those of other businesses. All graphic representations of a sign may, in principle, be a trade mark within the meaning of the law, such as; words, combinations of letters, numbers, graphic images, three-dimensional forms, slogans, combinations of those elements or even sound marks; which are made up of a sequence of notes.

International Application
Protecting your trade mark abroad
By filing your trade mark in the Swiss trade mark register, your trade mark shall be protected in Switzerland. You can also apply for trade mark protection in as many countries as you want following a single procedure.
How to register your trademark internationally
Using the online application program IR-Online (German, French or Italian) you can submit your trademark application online, which will take you through the process step by step, including explaining how to fill in the various parts.

Important: The list of products and services must be provided in French for any foreign application.
It can be challenging for anyone with no experience in trademark protection to register an foreign trademark without making any mistakes and to respond adequately to any objections. For this reason we suggest that you contact a trade mark consultant.
