Overview:
Around 1,000 multinational companies have chosen Ireland as their strategic European destination thanks to many benefits including the professional business environment as well as the extremely attractive taxation rates.
In fact, Ireland has one of the lowest corporation tax rates in Europe at 12.5% and companies can even benefit from a 25% tax credit against research and development costs.
Process:
In order to start your company you need to submit the following documents, along with the registration fee, to the CRO:
- Form A1:
This form will require you to give details about the company including the company name, the company’s registered office, secretary and directors details, their consent to acting as such, the subscribers as well as details of their shares.

If you are starting a Private Company Limited by Shares (LTD company), the constitution consists of a one document constitution. Contrarily, for all the other company types, constitutions include a Memorandum of association and Articles of association.
– The constitution format is set out in the relevant schedule to the Companies Act. You can check the Irish Statute Book website for examples of constitutions.
Application:
Applications to incorporate companies can be submitted online using CORE.
Note that documents are processed in chronological order and are subject to checks and they may be returned for correction.
If you are wishing to incorporate a new company, you are required to classify the principal activity of the company using the NACE classification for economic activities.
Incidental Obligations:
When registering your company with the CRO, you should consider these obligations incidental:
- Name and Disclosure Requirements
- Registered Office
- Beneficial Ownership register
- Activity in the State
- Officers
Note: The CRO cannot provide your company with a company seal, but you can purchase it from the law/legal stationers.

Fees are variable and depending on the procedures/ documents needed.
